Mother-in-law

Hello, Just a quick note to let anyone that may be interested in our little piece of heaven. I submitted the plan for the septic system of my inlaws new home today. If the submitted plan passes, I hope to begin the install on the system this weekend. I am as excited as they are to begin their house. They are going to be building about 200 feet from our house. Alot of people make jokes about their mother-in-law. I have truly been blessed with a great inlaws. She babysits our new baby Aidan. My Father-in-law will help anyway he can. They are just genuine good Christian people. Currently we have to take him out in the morning to her house about 10 miles away. After the new house is completed we can just carry him to her house or she will have the ability to come here and watch him. The house as planned is going to be approx. 1000 square feet with a large front and back porch. I dont mean to keep putting off posting the pictures of our property but my wife has had the camera at VBS all week. If the rain holds off I will finish mowing the grass tommorow and get the photos tommorow. God Bless and have a good night. Darrell

Hello, It has been another beautiful day here in our neck of the woods. I hauled the trash off for the lady that lost her husband. She seems to be holding it together pretty good. They were married for 50 years. That is hard to imagine in todays time for any marriage to last that long. I just hope that my wife and I are blessed with that much time together. I also went to one of our properties today and fixed the kitchen sink which was leaking. Sorry for not getting the pictures of our farm posted. I will do my best tommorow to get some of the photos taken and posted tommorow. My wife and two sons went to vacation bible school again tonight. They had a fun time according to my oldest son. Looking forward to another glorious day tommorow. My moter and father-in-law are going to be building their small retirement house this summer. I will post pictures of it once we break ground. Follow me for a daily look at the construction of this house. Planning on begining here in the next two weeks. Talk to you all tommorow.

Good morning, we are getting ready to attend the funeral of our friend I wrote about last night. He was in the armed forces and is going to have a 21 gun salute at his grave side service. My wife is going to have photos of the 21 gun salute on her blog (theburkeboys.blogspot.com). We will try to post later on this evening. I plan to put some pictures of our farm on today. Have a blessed day.

Bad news sometimes puts things into perspective.

Hello friends, Its 10:50 pm and we just got back from the funeral home. A guy we attend church with passed away suddenly with a heart attack. I was good friends with his son who also passed away last year. This family has really been hit pretty hard with grief. Very thankful that our family chain has not been broken by death. I know it is surely coming to all of us. Remember them in your prayers.
My older brother Michael loves to golf and is very good at it, however as any golfer knows everyday is not without its share of clouds. He told me he was having a particular bad day on the first nine. Slicing and missing what would normally be easy putts (easy for him). He had driven for 4 hours to play on a professional course. (remember we live in the sticks, 20 minutes one way to get a gallon of milk). He was talking how he was getting very angry because he was playing worse than he normally was. About the time he was ready to have a loss of religion(lol) he said one of the guys he was playing with received a phone call. The person on the call telling him about a friend who got the news of his small child being diagnosed with cancer. Funny thing after he heard that news it occurred to him how unimportant and insignificant that slice or bad putt was. Thankfully his two beautiful children at home are healthy. Its amazing how, unfortunately it sometimes takes some tragic information to really put thing into perspective. Truly if we have food, shelter and our families health we need to thank the one where all good and perfect things come from. Our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. I hope everyone out there has a good night or day. Thanks for stopping in.

If you have a few minutes and have not heard this song click on my youtube link. It speaks of the only time God ever ran. It is a song by Phillips, Craig and Dean. The Kingsmen have a version out also. Just try to imagine, the very creator of the heavens and earth certainly would have nothing to fear to ever make him run. Nothing but the amazing love of our Lord and savior could move him to run. That love is showed everday. No matter how many times we fail him he is standing and waiting for us to turn to him. He will not only welcome us back he will run to us and treat you as you are the only one in his eyes. Listen to this song. It has an amazing meaning to it. Impossible as it might seem, just try to imagine.

I have a question for anyone that knows about old crocks. My wife and I purchase a couple of homes a year to fix and repair to sell or to rent out. We purchased one a few months back and was told it was built around 1954. While in the attic doing some repairs we noticed several old drip pans from previous roof leaks. Old enamelware pans, aluminum pots, old lard cans etc...... I noticed over in the corner, almost covered by years of dust and insulation an old crock. We have many old crocks from our treasure/junk hunts but none like this. I have searched ebay and google and have not found anything yet. I hope some of you may know who made it and what year it is from. It is approx. 12 inches high and 10inches in diameter. It has an Indian head with three stars above and three stars below encased in a circle cobalt blue stamp on the side of it. I do not see any markings on the bottom. Just curious if it has any value. I have several unidentified items I have found that I am going to post over the next few days. Please stop in from time to time you may just be able to solve a mystery. Thanks

New tools, tools, tools, tools got to love them

I will be posting my opinion pure and simple of the many different construction tools I have bought. The opinions will be straight forward and honest. I am NOT receiving compensation from any manfactuurer. Just love having the right tools for the job.
We are about 20 minutes from any so called civilazation. If we need a gallon of milk, its at least a 20 minute drive one way. It gets aggravating at times but I personally wouldn't want it any other way. My son Gage, sister in law Jayda and one of her friends was fishing in one of our ponds at 10:30pm tonight. Jayda always lucks out and catches the most. Several catfish and crappie were caught and released. Love the country life. More tommorow.
Well here it goes. It 1:10am and trying to get this blog set up. As it says in my profile I have several years of fixing most any aspect of a house. I must tell you up front I am NOT a licensed plumber or electrician. I do have quite a bit of general knowledge and may be able to help you out of a spot. Best of all its free. I would love the opportunity to at least try to answer your questions. I have successfully bought, fixed and sold 4 houses in the last few years. I also received 3 years of formal education in carpentry and construction. If it has to do with general house repairs have probably already experienced it.
